Why We Have a Dress Code
At Dance Delaware Studios, our dress code is an important part of creating a safe, focused, and professional learning environment for every dancer.
Proper dance attire allows our teachers to clearly see a dancer’s alignment, posture, placement, and technique, helping us make corrections that encourage proper development and reduce the risk of injury.
The correct shoes are equally important. Dance shoes are designed specifically for each style and allow dancers to safely learn and perform movements with the proper support, flexibility, and technique.
Our dress code also helps dancers:
- Move safely and freely without clothing getting in the way.
- Develop proper technique by allowing teachers to see body alignment and placement.
- Build discipline and responsibility by arriving prepared for class.
- Stay focused by creating a classroom environment centered on learning.
- Feel a sense of belonging when everyone comes to class prepared as part of the Dance Delaware family.
- Prepare for performances by learning the importance of presentation and professionalism.
Hair should also be secured neatly away from the face so dancers can move, turn, and perform without distraction. All Ballet and Technique classes require a bun. NO Exceptions
Most importantly, our dress code is not about appearance or comparison. It is about giving every dancer the best possible environment to learn, grow, and succeed.
When dancers walk into the studio dressed and ready for class, they are telling themselves: I am here. I am prepared. I am ready to dance.
