At Dance Delaware Studios, we believe exceptional dance education begins with something even more important than technique:

Knowing, understanding, and caring for the child standing in front of us.

Every dancer who walks through our doors brings something different—their personality, abilities, challenges, creativity, dreams, and their own unique way of learning. Our philosophy is to meet each child where they are, recognize the potential within them, and help them grow from there.

We believe children learn best when they feel safe enough to try, supported enough to make mistakes, challenged enough to grow, and encouraged enough to believe they can succeed.

That means creating an environment where high-quality training and high expectations exist alongside kindness, patience, joy, respect, and genuine care.

Excellence With Heart

We believe strong dancers are built through proper training, consistency, discipline, and dedication.

Our faculty is committed to providing high-quality dance education that develops technique, strength, coordination, musicality, artistry, creativity, and performance skills while respecting each dancer's individual development.

But excellence should never come at the expense of a child's confidence or love of dance.

We can correct without discouraging.

We can challenge without diminishing.

We can expect hard work while still allowing children to be children.

We can pursue excellence while remembering that the person we are teaching will always be more important than the performance we are creating.

Growing the Whole Child

Dance has the extraordinary ability to teach lessons that extend far beyond the studio.

Through dance, children learn how to set goals, accept corrections, persevere when something is difficult, work as part of a team, celebrate the accomplishments of others, express themselves, and discover what they are capable of achieving.

They learn that progress takes patience.

They learn that mistakes are part of growing.

They learn that success isn't always about being the best—it is about becoming your best.

Most importantly, they begin to understand that their worth is not determined by a trophy, a role, a placement, a body type, or how quickly they master a skill.

Every child has something valuable to bring to the room.

Led by founder Valerie Smith, our faculty brings professional performance experience, dance education, creativity, and passion into the classroom. We are committed to continuing our own education through training, certifications, conferences, workshops, industry developments, and artistic enrichment.

Dance continues to evolve, and so should we.

We want our dancers to see that learning never ends—not for them and not for us.

Someday, our dancers will take their final class.

The costumes will be packed away. The performances will become memories. And their journey may lead them to Broadway, college, a classroom, a career completely outside of dance, or somewhere they haven't even imagined yet.
